The Internal Security Bureau (ISB) has confirmed that no casualties were reported after a fire broke out at its headquarters, commonly known as the Blue House, in Juba early Wednesday morning.

Speaking in a public statement, the ISB Director of Public Relations Spokesperson, David John Kumuri, said the fire started at approximately 12:15 a.m. in the main building housing the Administration Division of the Bureau.

“All personnel have been safely accounted for, and no casualties have been reported,” Kumuri said.

He said preliminary findings suggest the fire was most likely caused by an electrical fault, adding that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident and assess the extent of the damage to the building.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the fire was likely caused by an electrical fault. A full investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and to assess the extent of damage to the building,” he stated.

Kumuri reassured the public that the fire has not disrupted the Bureau’s operations or national security functions.

“The Internal Security Bureau wishes to reassure the public that its core operations and national security functions remain fully operational and unaffected. The ISB continues to discharge its mandate of safeguarding the national security interests of the Republic of South Sudan,” he said.

He further reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to public safety and its constitutional responsibilities.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to public safety and our constitutional mandate,” Kumuri added.

The Bureau has not yet disclosed the extent of the damage, saying further details will be released once the ongoing investigation is completed.
