The African Inland Church (AIC) in Juba, South Sudan has launched a fundraising campaign to raise 219,000 U.S. dollars to complete the construction of its church building in Buluk, with church leaders appealing to Christians and well-wishers to contribute financially and materially to the project.
The fundraising event, held on Thursday at the basketball court in Nimir-Talata Residential Area in Juba, brought together more than 500 worshippers, including prominent gospel singers from churches across Juba City.
Speaking during the event, gospel singer Khamis Kennedy said the campaign was aimed at mobilizing the resources needed to complete the church building.
“We organized this fundraising campaign to raise 219,000 U.S. dollars to complete the construction of the church. About 30 percent of the construction work has already been completed,” Kennedy said,
He urged Christians and well-wishers to support the project.
The Chairperson of the Fundraising Organizing Committee, Emmanuel Kenyi Kilombi, said the initiative seeks to mobilize both financial and material support to complete the church building.
“Fundraising means voluntary contributions in the form of money or building materials to help complete the construction of the church,” Kilombi said.
He added that the success of the campaign depends on the collective support of church members and the wider community.
Meanwhile, the Bishop of the African Inland Church, James Lagos Alexander, called on Christians to regard the construction of the church as a shared responsibility.
“The construction of the church is everyone’s responsibility. We should practice giving because God blesses those who give,” Bishop Ladu Alexander said.
The fundraising campaign is expected to continue as the church seeks to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the building project in Buluk.
