The President of the Europe Peace Foundation and Founder of the Global Peace 2030 Mission, Mr. Sappan KC Hum, has formally presented a special proposal for the declaration of South Sudan as a Peaceful Nation by the year 2030 through national dialogue and capacity development as part of his Global Peace 2030 initiative.

Addressing journalists yesterday in Juba, Mr. Sappan KC Hum said the proposal includes a National Peace, Reconciliation and Development Roadmap towards 2030, which he presented to key national stakeholders, including the President of the Republic through the Minister of Interior.

“During this official visit, I have held several constructive and fruitful engagements with key national stakeholders, including senior government officials, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the National Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the National Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, National Minister of Peacebuilding, First Deputy Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly, Governor of Central Equatoria State, as well as civil society, youth groups, and refugee communities,” he stated.

Mr. Hum said declaring South Sudan a Peaceful Nation does not mean all challenges have been resolved, but signals a strong, united commitment to reject violence, resolve political and social differences through peaceful dialogue, and prioritize human dignity.

“I raised two crucial priorities including integrating humanitarian action and peace, and justice, rule of law, and inclusive governance to protect vulnerable population,” he clarified.

He stressed that the initiative also calls for a National Inter-Party-Political Dialogue on Elections and an International Peace Conference in Juba after the December elections.

“I pledge my full commitment to support a National Inter-Party-Political Dialogue on Elections and the commissioning of an International Peace Conference in Juba after the electoral process,” Mr. Hum emphasized.

The President of Europe Peace Foundation said by choosing non-violence and national unity, South Sudan can become a message of hope to Africa and the world, and by 2030 turn the vision of a peaceful, prosperous and secure nation into reality.

“I call upon all national, regional, and international partners to stand together in support of political dialogue, peace, and democratic progress in the Republic of South Sudan,” he said.

The GLOBAL PEACE 2030 “GP2030” initiative seeks to create a peaceful world by the year 2030, effectively eradicating all types of conflict, warfare, and violence. The goal of GP2030 is to cultivate a global atmosphere of peace, urging all governments and conflicting parties to come together with a unified vision of attaining worldwide harmony prior to the year 2030.
