The National Alliance of Political Parties, led by Rt. Hon. Kornelio Kon Ngu, has distanced itself from a recent political statement issued in its name and reaffirmed that it remains the only legitimate National Alliance of Political Parties with Rt. Hon. Kornelio Kon Ngu as its duly recognized Chairperson of the coalition.

The clarification comes after the Alliance said a group of parties on 31st of August, in Juba released a statement under the name of the National Alliance of Political Parties and its Leadership Council announcing the withdrawal of confidence in the Chairperson. The group accused Kon of violating the Alliance’s Charter and Code of Conduct.

In that statement, the group accused the Alliance’s chairperson of unilateral appointments, commercialization of nominations and portfolios, nepotism, threats and coercion, incitement against state institutions, and allegedly praising destructive acts, including the burning of the Blue House.

“The National Alliance of the Political Parties dismayed by the irresponsible utterances, shortsighted leadership, confused vision and lack of respect to the legally establishment national institutions and failed stewardship by Rt. Hon. Kornelio Kon Ngu who is the Chairperson of the National Alliance of the Political Parties and self-imposed principle of Other Political Parties (OPP),” read part of the statement.

In that same statement issued in Juba last Friday by political parties under the same name of National Coalition of Political Parties, it stated that the Leadership Council reached the decision of withdrawing its confidence from the chairperson after reviewing what it described as recent conduct and public statements by Kornelio Kon Ngu.

“We are unanimously reconfirming withdrawing our confidence from Rt. Hon. Kornelio Kon Ngu as a Chairperson of the National Alliance of the Political Parties and the Principle of Other Political Parties. Subsequently, we are calling upon the President Salva Kiir Mayardit to revoke Rt. Hon. Kornelio Kon Ngu from the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA) before creating more chaos and insecurity,” the statement stated.

In response, Gabriel Alazir, Spokesperson of the National Alliance of Political Parties led by Rt. Hon. Kornelio Kon Ngu, refuted the accusations. He said the individuals behind the 31st August meeting and statement do not represent the Alliance and have no mandate to speak or act on its behalf.

According to Alazir, some of those involved had their memberships officially terminated in line with the Alliance’s regulations.

“The individuals who organized and met behind the statement mentioned above do not represent the National Alliance of Political Parties and are not affiliated with it. They do not possess any organizational or legal authorization that allows them to issue statements, make decisions, or hold meetings in the name of the Alliance.We would also like to clarify to public opinion that among these individuals are those who represented parties that have been dissolved or had their membership officially terminated by the Alliance due to political reasons and clear violations of the rules and regulations governing internal work,” said the Spokesperson of the National Alliance of other Political Parties.

The Alliance reaffirmed its complete disavowal of the disputed statement and all it contains, and warned against any attempt to exploit its name, logo, or organizational status for narrow personal or political interests.

“The National Alliance of Political Parties stresses that it will not tolerate from this day forward any individual or group that uses the name of the Alliance, its status, or its institutional framework in an illegal manner and without formal authorization,” read the statement partially.

The Alliance said it will pursue all necessary legal measures against anyone found to be using its name without authorization or seeking to undermine its unity and national standing.

The National Alliance under Kornelio Kon Ngo also offered condolences to the family of the late parliamentarian Albino John Laku and distanced itself from the use of his name in the 31st August statement issued at Dembesh Hotel.

This comes after the family of the late Hon. Albino John Laku requested the Alliance to withdraw, apologize, and correct the unauthorized use of his name.

“The coalition emphasizes that it does not accept, morally, humanely, or politically, any practice that violates the sanctity of the deceased or the feelings of their families. It also emphasizes that it had no knowledge, connection, or participation in the use of the deceased’s name within the aforementioned statement. The full responsibility for that lies upon the individuals who prepared, published, and circulated that statement, along with any resulting moral, ethical, or legal responsibilities,” said Alazir

The Alliance further affirmed that its ranks remain cohesive under the legitimate leadership of Rt. Hon. Kornelio Kon Ngo, who is also the Alliance’s candidate for the upcoming presidential election.
