South Sudan’s Political Parties Council has set Thursday, October 22nd, as the final deadline for political parties to register pre-election coalitions ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, October 22nd, the Chairperson of the Political Parties Council, James Akol Zakayo, said Order took effect on Wednesday, October 21st, requiring all coalition registration processes to be completed by close of business on Thursday.
“The Act says that any party that wants to register a coalition must submit before 22nd of October, sixty days prior to the election. So, tomorrow (Thursday, 22nd/10/2026) is the last day for submission of registration of coalition. Whoever will submit next tomorrow will not be entertained,” said the Chairperosn of the Political Parties Council.
