
Dr. Labanya Margret Mathya. National Trade Minister
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Labanya Margret Mathya, has held consultative talks with business leaders and private sector representatives in Juba to discuss challenges affecting trade and industrial development in South Sudan.
The meeting brought together members of the National Chamber of Commerce, importers, exporters, manufacturers, investors, local traders, and international business partners.
Key concerns raised during the discussions included high taxes and multiple business levies, unstable foreign exchange rates, delays at border points and customs clearance, unreliable electricity supply, and the increasing presence of counterfeit goods on local markets.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Labanya assured the business community that the government would work with relevant institutions to address the concerns and improve the business environment in the country.
The discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation between the government and the private sector to promote economic growth and industrial development in South Sudan.
Dr. Labanya Margaret Mathya Ugila is the newly appointed Minister of Trade and Industry in South Sudan with over three decades of experience in public service and administration.
